Validity of foetal Doppler indices in predicting postnatal respiratory distress syndrome: a prospective study

چکیده
Abstract Background Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a potentially fatal condition of neonate occurring due to alveolar surfactant deficiency causing inefficient gaseous exchange and leading hampered respiratory function. Purpose our study investigate the role Doppler indices in antenatal prediction clinical Distress Syndrome late preterm early term foetuses using Main pulmonary artery (MPA) indices. The current was conducted on 342 pregnant women between 34 39 weeks gestational age, who came for routine third trimester ultrasound examination. standard foetal biometric parameters, age estimated weight were first obtained. MPA like pulsatility index (PI), resistivity (RI), peak systolic velocity (PSV), systolic/diastolic ratio acceleration time/ejection time (At/Et) recorded correlated with postnatal development RDS. Results Of foetuses, neonatal RDS diagnosed 47 foetuses. Foetuses had statistically higher PI RI values, whereas At/Et PSV lower. ratio, RI, showed significant correlation most found ratio. A cut-off value 0.2865 (sensitivity 89.45%, specificity 94.79%) 0.3155 93.22%, 96.78%) strongly infants. Conclusion Foetal PSV, especially promising non-invasive tool which helps identifying at risk may be very useful plan delivery complicated pregnancies also better post-natal care neonate.

Validity of Spo2/Fio2 Ratio in Detection of Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Introduction: One ofdiagnostic criteria for Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is pao2/fio2 (PF) ratio 300 for ALI or 200 for ARDS. This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio. Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...
متن کاملRole of early postnatal dexamethasone in respiratory distress syndrome.
OBJECTIVE To study the effect of early postnatal dexamethasone therapy on severity of hyaline membrane disease. DESIGN Prospective, randomized, controlled, unblinded study. SETTING Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. METHODS 19 babies who had hyaline membrane disease were included in this study. The inclusion criteria were clinical and radiographic diagnosis of RDS, requiring mechanical ventila...
متن کاملAtrial natriuretic factor and postnatal diuresis in respiratory distress syndrome.
To find out if atrial natriuretic factor plays a part in the control of urine output during the initiation alone or throughout postnatal diuresis in neonates with respiratory distress syndrome, atrial natriuretic factor concentrations and clinical and renal variables were measured prospectively three times during the first three days of life in 13 premature infants. Atrial natriuretic factor co...
متن کاملAcute respiratory distress syndrome--a case study.
This case study explores the management of an unusually complicated case of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) extending over 52 days of hospitalization. Despite the utilization of conventional medical treatments and optimum respiratory support modalities, the patient's condition worsened and death was imminent without salvage therapy. After cardiovascular surgery consultation and spous...
